Die casting and die casting process

Die casting is a fast-growing special casting method with less cutting and no cutting in modern metal processing technology. It is the process of filling the cavity with molten metal under high pressure and high speed, and crystallizing and solidifying under high pressure to form a casting. High pressure and high speed are the main characteristics of die casting. The commonly used pressure is tens of MPa, the filling speed (ingate speed) is about 16-80 m/s, and the time for the molten metal to fill the cavity is extremely short, about 0.01-0.2 seconds.
Because the products produced by this method have the advantages of high production efficiency, simple process, high casting tolerance level, good surface roughness, high mechanical strength, can save a lot of mechanical processing procedures and equipment, and save raw materials. Therefore, it has become an important part of my country's foundry industry.
Die-casting process is a process that organically combines and comprehensively utilizes the three major elements of die-casting machine, die-casting mold and alloy. The process of metal filling the cavity during die casting is a process in which process factors such as pressure, speed, temperature, and time are unified. At the same time, these technical factors influence each other, restrict each other and complement each other. Only by correctly selecting and adjusting these factors so that they are coordinated can the desired effect be achieved. Therefore, in the die-casting process, not only the manufacturability of the casting structure, the advancement of the die-casting mold, the performance and structure of the die-casting machine, and the adaptability of the mold must be paid attention to. The selection of casting alloys and the standardization of the melting process; more attention should be paid to process parameters such as pressure, temperature and time, which play an important role in the quality of castings. During the die-casting process, attention should be paid to the effective control of these parameters.
